Privacy policy

This policy covers Crock & Culture at https://crockandculture.com, published by Slate Mill Group.

The short version

We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising networks on this site, and we do not ask you to create an account. The only information you can give us directly is what you type into the contact form.

What we collect

Information you give us

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you submit. We use them to reply to you and to fix whatever you told us about. We do not add you to a mailing list — there is no mailing list.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which recommendations they act on. It sets cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not combine it with contact-form submissions.

We record one custom event, affiliate_click, when someone clicks a buy button. It records which retailer and which page, not who you are. It exists because it is the only way we can tell which recommendations are useful.

Google’s own handling of that data is governed by its privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser add-on, and most browsers offer tracking protection that blocks it.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses and request details for operational and security purposes. We do not use those logs for anything else.

Affiliate links

Outbound commercial links pass through a redirect on our own domain (/go/…) before reaching the retailer. That redirect sets no cookie and does not track you across other sites. Its purpose is to keep destination URLs editable in one place and to count clicks in aggregate.

Once you arrive at the retailer, that retailer sets its own cookies and applies its own privacy policy, exactly as it would if you had typed the address yourself. Amazon’s cookie is what attributes a purchase to us. We never see what you bought or who you are — only, via Amazon’s reporting, that purchases occurred.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade personal information
• We do not run display advertising or ad networks
• We do not operate a newsletter or email marketing
• We do not have user accounts or logins
• We do not embed social media tracking widgets
• We do not build advertising profiles

Cookies

The cookies set on this site come from Google Analytics. We set no cookies of our own for advertising or personalization, because we do neither.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. In practice the only personal information we hold is contact-form correspondence.

Email info@crockandculture.com and we will act on it. We do not require you to prove more than is necessary to establish that the request is yours.

Data retention

Contact-form correspondence is kept as long as it is useful for the conversation it belongs to and any correction that came out of it, and deleted on request. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics’ configured retention period.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the last-updated date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no version we quietly replace.
