The short version

Crock & Culture is funded by affiliate commissions. If you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Our Amazon tracking tag is crockandculture-20.

What this costs you

Nothing. The price you pay is the same whether you arrive at the retailer through a link here or by typing the address yourself. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin.

Which links earn

Amazon links earn. Every buy button, every product name that links to a retailer, and every “check price” link on this site goes to Amazon with our tracking tag attached.

Some links deliberately do not. Where a retailer we have no affiliate relationship with is genuinely the better buy — King Arthur Baking is the standing example — we link them anyway and say plainly that we earn nothing from it. Those links carry no tracking.

Links to sources, authorities and reference material never earn. Food-safety guidance and manufacturer documentation are cited, not monetized.

We currently earn from Amazon only. We have joined no other affiliate network, and we do not build tracked links for programs we have not joined. If that changes, this page changes with it.

What a “/go/” link is

Outbound commercial links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain that looks like /go/amazon?to=… before landing at the retailer.

Three reasons, all of them practical:

• It keeps the destination editable. Retailer URLs and tracking parameters live in one configuration file rather than being typed into hundreds of pages, so updating them does not mean rewriting content.
• It lets us count clicks. We can see which recommendations people act on, which is the only performance signal we have.
• It is transparent. The redirect is marked noindex, it is blocked in robots.txt, and every link through it carries rel="sponsored nofollow". Hovering a buy button shows a /go/ URL, which is your signal that it is a commercial link.

It does not track you across other sites, and it sets no cookie of its own. The retailer sets its own cookie once you arrive, as it would however you got there.

What the commission does not buy

It does not buy a ranking. We accept no payment, no free products and no sponsored placements, and no manufacturer or retailer has any input into what appears on this site or in what order.

It does not decide our picks. Where a cheaper option is the right answer, the cheaper option is the top pick — including where the alternative would pay us more, and including options that pay us nothing at all. That commitment is written down in our editorial policy.

It does not change what we claim. We have not tested this equipment and we say so on every page that recommends anything — see how we pick.

Prices

Prices shown on this site come from a live data feed and are stamped with the date they were verified. They change, and the price at the retailer at the moment you click is the one that applies. Where we have no current price, the button reads “check price” rather than displaying a number we cannot stand behind.
